3How to correct or add missing information?
If you notice something incorrect or if you know a missing photo location on an existing guide, please don´t hesitate  to contact us by using this form. We are happy about every update we get from you!
4How accurate are the guides?
At the beginning of every guide, we publish the date of the visit at the airport. Please keep in mind that some locations are already some years old and maybe no longer accessible as new constructions have taken place, but usually we try to keep the guides as up to date as possible. If you are a local spotter from an airport please don´t hesitate to contact us if there are any changes.
5How do you rate your guides?
Movements: This means how many movements takes place at an airport and are those splitted between more runways. Taking pictures at an airport with a splitted runway system (one for landing, one for take offs) is easier than on an airport with five main runways like Amsterdam, where the movements are spread around the area. Its also important to know if there are hub sequences. For example most traffic in Abu Dhabi takes place during the night rush. So its pretty uninteresting for a plane spotter there.

Variety: This is pretty simple. How many different airlines serve an airport and how regular.  Is an airport dominated by a single airline, that much lower is the number of the stars. For example; Atlanta or Dallas Fort/Worth are dominated each by a single airline. This means just a few stars. Antalya or Barcelona on the other side, have a wide variety of carriers and are not only dominated by two or three airlines. That means a higher rating.

Photo Locations: There are many factors that influence this rating:
  • Quality: That means how close you are to the planes (a high focal length is not the best circumstance) and are there any disturbing factors like a fence or light poles which makes the photography difficult.
  • Usability: Do the different spots cover all runway movements or is there a lack, where it is impossible to take pictures and you will miss some movements?
  • Accessibility: Is it easy to reach the spot, even by public transport? Is it next to a road where you can park your car? Is it on a field in the middle of nowhere and you have to walk a couple of minutes?
  • Surroundings: Are there Restrooms and Food Stations close to it? Is there a possibility to sit down and do you feel fairly comfortable?
  • Weather protection: Is there a chance to find protection for the hot sun or a rain shower?

Weather: we are using the total sun hours within a year for our weather rating. Sometimes we adjust the rating if there is a lot of smog/dust over the city like in BKK, LAX or PEK.
  • 1 star: < 1.250 hours
  • 2 stars: 1.251 - 2.000 hours
  • 3 stars: 2.001 - 2.500 hours
  • 4 stars: 2.501 - 3.250 hours
  • 5 stars: > 3.250 hours
6Printing a guide
All pictures in the guide must be loaded properly before you can print it. Just scroll to the end of a guide to load these. After that, hit the print key on your keyboard. Thats it!
7Create a PDF of the guide
We don´t offer a direct solution to export our posts into a PDF. Usually every modern Operation System like Windows 10.X or MacOS 10.X offers an easy way to create a PDF. Just use the print button from the browser menu and select the PDF Printer (Windows) or use the PDF Export feature at MacOS.
8"Focal Length"
Most of our photographers are using a DSLR with a APS-C sensor from Canon or Nikon (DX). The value you see in our guides is for these kind of sensors. If not other mentioned the focal length is not similar to a full-frame DSLR!
9"Time" detail
Usually we split the best time of the day to make a photo without backlit into summer/winter and provide day times like morning, noon, afternoon or evening. We don´t provide exact times as its nearly impossible. If you wonder why, it is beacuse of to the daily movement of the sun and the individual understanding of backlit of each person. Furthermore we recommend the tools sunearthtools.com or suncalc.net to find the position of the sun during your stay. More infos for these two website can be found here.
