Ras Al Khaimah Airport Spotting Guide

Our member Jeremy Denton and his father Paul visited Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT / OMRK) from Dubaï. The airport has a passenger terminal, a cargo terminal and an aircraft maintenance area. Currently, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is being rebranded within efforts to attract legitimate cargo, in particular from establishments under the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone and also passengers traffics mostly charter services. This airport is good if you spend times in Dubai or around that you can managed to go to RKT for a half of day for a ramp tour. The most interesting stuff at RKT are all the stored aircraft. It still have some scheduled flights mainly by Air Arabia but you could be happy to shoot lots of Tristar (5x), DC-8 (7x), some Ilyushin 76 (4x), Antonov 12 (1x), CRJ-900 (2x), Boeing 732 (1x), Boeing 727 (1x), Boeing 743, DC-9… Since a year, Air Arabia has launched some scheduled flights to over 10 destinations (Cairo, Chittagong, Dhaka, Doha, Kathmandu, Islamabad, Jeddah, Lahore, Muscat, Peshawar) with an Airbus 320. Qatar Airways is coming from DOH as from 01.10.2015 with an Airbus 320 and Sun Express Germany with a Boeing 738 (Charter flights) from 30.10.2015 (Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt, Hanover, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart). Some information about the traffics could be reached by this link : http://www.rakairport.com/fids.aspx

I visited Ras Al Khaimah in December 2016 and gained the necessary permission to photograph on the ramp and in the storage areas on both sides of the airport. Just my like, Sharjah and Dubai were fogged out so there were many diversions in to RAK! My question, might anyone have the registration of the dumped unmarked Mi-2 wearing Medevac titles on the far side close the Gulfstream 1? I could find nothing. Thanks.

      Hello Kirk,

can you tell me anything about the TriStars at RKT ?

I urgently need an information about the actual status of former N162AT, N164AT and N194AT. Can you help me ?

      Thanks in advance, Markus
