Fuaʻamotu International Airport – Spotting Guide
September 24, 2026Montreal Metropolitan Saint-Hubert Airport – Spotting Guide
Montreal Metropolitan Saint-Hubert Airport (YHU/CYHU) is a small airfield located 15km east of Montreal Downtown. Since May 2026, the airport has a regular passenger terminal with a capacity of 4 million passengers a year. That’s why you can now also spot Porter Dash8/E195-E2 serving regular flights throughout Canada. In addition, Pascan Aviation, Max Air and AirMedic are based here and YHU also hosts maintenance bases for some aircraft which is the reason for regular Summit Avro or Air Creebec Dash movements.
All of that lead to YHU being the 12th busiest airport in Canada based on flight movements.

| Spotting Information | |
| Ladder | A ladder is useful along the fence, but mostly you can shoot through the mesh or over the fence with live view. |
| Car/Public Transport | A car is definitely needed to move around the airfield. |
| Drinks/Food | No specific spots, however you will find some facilities in the south. |
| Hotels | There is no specific hotel offering nicer views for us spotters. |
| Season | There is no real off-/on-season, but summer has mostly better weather. |
| Security | Spotting is no issue here, although some FBOs may not love us. Keep a low profile at some aprons and leave if asked to. |
| Runway Usage | |
| General Info | Depending on the wind, we were not able to spot any patterns. |
| Spot #1 – Fences – Ramp | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot is not just a single location rather the parking areas and their surronding fences all over the airport’s southeastern front: either Mentor Aero, AirMedic or MaxAviation. Just drive down the streets and look whether there is anything interesting parked outside, you can mostly quickly park in front of the hangars. |
| WHAT | The GA ramps along the southeastern front. |
| TIME | Depending on the parked angle, morning hours till noon are best though. |
| MISC. | A ladder or small step useful, otherwise you can work through the mesh as well. Nothing directly nearby. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 18-200mm |

| Spot #2 – HUB FBO – 24R Movements | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot is located on the northwestern edge of the airfield in the parking of HUB FBO. You can position yourself at its southeastern edge and see onto the runway nicely. |
| WHAT | The ramp of HUB FBO is covered with foils, but with a step or live view you can also shoot that ramp. In addition, 24R Movements can be seen from here. |
| TIME | Later summer evenings only. |
| MISC. | You are a bit elevated and can shoot over the fence towards the runway, a step or live view is needed for the ramp. Haze can be an issue. The grass in summer might not be cut and disturb ground shots. Nothing around here. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 100-400mm |

| Spot #3 – LUX Terminal – Ramp | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | Make your way to the LUX Terminal with its parking lot in front where you can park your car. Then enter the terminal and ask whether you may head towards the glass front from where you can see and shoot onto the ramp. |
| WHAT | From inside the LUX Terminal you can see the ramp in front. |
| TIME | Best in the afternoon hours. |
| MISC. | The windows are a bit tinned and may be dirty. Haze and foreground clutter can be an issue as well. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 18-200mm |
| Spot #4 – Boulevard Clairevue – 24R Arrivals | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot is located along Boulevard Clairevue running along the airfield’s northeastern front/fence. You can park/stop your car on a big gravel area just below the arrival path and shoot the arrivals from along the street here. |
| WHAT | From here you can shoot 24R Arrivals. |
| TIME | Actually all day as you can move around with the sun. |
