Ogden Hinckley Airport (OGD/KOGD) is a small regional airport 5km south of Ogden and 50km north of Salt Lake City, also close to Ogden-Hill AFB. OGD has quite a bit general aviation traffic: either business jets or also the local flying schools. After Avelo and Allegiant ended their services to OGD in 2022, Breeze started a single service to Santa Ana/Orange County in february 2024 again. As of 2025, Breeze is still the single service (not even daily), however OGD offers quite some nice backdrops worth a visit.

| Airport Information | |
| Runways | |
| 03/21 | 2470m / 8103ft – Asphalt |
| 17/35 | 1583m / 5195ft – Asphalt |
| Terminals | |
| T1 | There is one terminal in the east handling all operations. |
| Spotting Information | |
| Ladder | Not really needed, at spot 3 we recommend to shoot thru the mesh or from your car’s top. |
| Car/Public Transport | A car is absolutely needed. |
| Drinks/Food | There are some stores around the airfield’s southwest. |
| Hotels | No specific spotter hotels around OGD. |
| Season | There is no specific season with more/less traffic, but winter may offer some gorgeous snowy backdrops. |
| Security | Spotting is no issue here normally, but always keep an ID with you and a low profile to avoid attention |
| Runway Usage | |
| General Info | Civil airliners use 03/21 in the direction depending on the wind, whereas 17/35 is used by general aviation and the flight schools mostly. |
| Spot #1 – Airport Rd – 21 Arrivals + 21 Line-Ups + 03 Departures | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot is located in a parking lot or the nearby grass area along Airport Rd northeast of the airfield. Head for the Storage Hous or Ultimate Aviation where you can stop your car and spot planes directly in front. |
| WHAT | From here you can nicely spot 21 Arrivals and 03 Departures; from the fence you can also spot the taxiway/line-ups onto 21 in front. |
| TIME | From sunrise till later noon. |
| MISC. | There is nothing directly around here. Keep a low profile as you are in some companies’ parking here. No ladder needed, the aircraft will be high enough above the fence. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 70-300mm A220 line-up = 120mm |
|
Spot #2 – Viewing Area – Ramp
|
|
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot is a nicely laid viewing and picnic area just behind the terminal at the fence front with some benches. Simply park in front of the terminal, cross the building towards the grass area on the western side and position yourself along the fence. |
| WHAT | From here you can see the ramp just in front. Theoretically the runway in the back is visible as well, but may be hidden by ground equipment. |
| TIME | From sunrise till later noon. |
| MISC. | The terminal is just behind you where you can find restrooms. A ladder is not recommended: either shoot thru the mesh or over the fence using live-view. Haze and foreground clutter may be an issue here. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 18-100mm |
| Spot #3 – Flight school parking – 03 Arrivals + 21 Departures | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot can be found in the parking lot of a flight school south of the airfield. In the parking lot you will find a big roundabout, west of which you can approach the fence offering nice views onto arrivals/departures. |
| WHAT | 21 Departures and 03 Arrivals – latter look like THIS. |
| TIME | From sunrise till later noon. |
| MISC. | There is nothing directly around here; a 7Eleven and Taco shop is a bit south of the spot though. Keep a low profile as you are in some companies’ parking here. No ladder needed, the aircraft will be high enough above the fence. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 70-300mm |
| Spot #4 – Parking – 03 Arrivals + 21 Departures | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot is located southwest of the airfield along the fence in some parking behind some sort of warehouses. Park your car directly in front of the fence here and try to shoot thru the mesh or from your car’s top. |
| WHAT | From here you will be able to spot 03 arrivals and 21 departures. |
| TIME | From early afternoon till sunset; better in summer with longer days. |
| MISC. | There is nothing directly around here; a 7Eleven and Taco shop is a bit south of the spot though. Keep a low profile as you are in some companies’ parking here. You either need to shoot thru the mesh or from your car’s top. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 70-300mm |
