Katowice Pyrzowice (KTW/EPKT) is an airport located in southern Poland with a single runway and more than 4.8 Mio passengers. It is the fourth busiest passengers airport and second biggest cargo airport of the country . This airport is the most busiest airport in kind of charter flights in Poland. There are just a few main airlines – WizzAir, Ryanair, Transavia, LOT and Cargo which includes DHL (plus sub charters), UPS and ASL airlines.
But in summer there is a lot of charter going on for example – Smartwings, BulgarianAirCharter or Bulgaria Air and a lot of turkish airlines. The airport is far away from the city Katowice and there is nothing much around. But now it is easier to visit this airport, because new bus lines started driving from the city center.

The location is at the dead end of Kolejowa road. Easily to reach by car if you come from the terminal. Park direclty at this road which is very quiet and just used by locals. By foot use the same way as by car and walk for 20-25 minutes.

There is a spotting platform at the end of runway 09 along Zubrza road. From the terminal drive down on Wolności Road (don’t use the offical exit) and take the third right from there. Cross the construction site and at the next junction turn right and drive all the way up till you see the platform. Lot of parking space there.
WHAT
Not the best place for photography as you are almost below the approach path. But line-ups can be made as well as a nice sight over the airport is offered.
The spot is in Niwy road just a few hundred meters north of the previous location. Just park there.

Radarek is near południowa street, road from Zendek village which can be accessed from the previous spot if you drive north and then turn right. Transport to this spot is by car only, but is very trick to get there as you need to drive on very bumpy farm roads. Navigation an map is helpful.

The best time in the evening to sunset and from sunrise to morning during the summer months only. Backlit in winter.
The spot is in Leśna road which can be reached by car only. From the terminal use the official exit and pass the roundabout. Take the next left at the BP station and continue on this road till you reach a small village. Turn left here, pass the approach of 27 and park as marked on the map.

Hello, my name is Nicolas and I am a visiting spotter from Italy. Could you please provide some pictures of runway 27 departures taken from spot no.1? I’m interested in visiting but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to catch what I want the way I want it. I’m sure some samples could convince me. Thank you.

Hi Nicolas, somehow the sample photos disappeared. Now they are back online and you should see what you are looking for.
