Shizuoka Airport (RJNS/FSZ) also called Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport, is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan and handled around 250.000 passengers in 2022. Opened on June 4, 2009, the airport has currently domestic service to Sapporo, Fukuoka, Naha (Okinawa), Komatsu, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima. International routes connect to several chinese destinations and to Seoul. Main carrier is Fuji Dream Airlines. Also China Eastern Airlines, Jeju Air and China United Airlines operating to Shizuoka.
The airport is located in Makinohara and Shimada. It is 27 km southwest of Shizuoka Station and about 45 km from Hamamatsu, 80 km from Mount Fuji, 130 km from Nagoya, and 175 km from Tokyo in a direct line.

| WHERE | The terminal observation terrace is located inside of the airport and befor the security check points. Part of their viewing platform has been transformed from glass into a wire mesh, and two or three photo holes have been made. |

| WHERE | When leaving the terminal building, turn left to the east and walk all the way down until a small concret way turns left. Continue for around 100m and you will reach the observation deck, which offer a few from several levels. |

| MISC. | There is some shade and also restrooms. You can buy food only inside of the terminal. Ladder is not necessary you are above the fence. |

Spot #3 – Western runway observation point |

| WHERE | When leaving the terminal building, turn right to the west and walk all the way down until you can see a small hill with a way up to them. If you approaching by car turn the second small street after the last large traffic light and park your are free of charge next to walkway entrance. |

I visited Shizuoka Airport on Oct17 2025. Now, part of their viewing platform has been transformed into a wire mesh, and two or three square holes openings have been made, like Tokyo Narita Airport. But that hole is too low so it might be necessary to squat down to use it. If you are going to take a flight here and don’t have much time to visit other places, it’s still acceptable here, because at least there’s an option without glass.
