Latrobe Arnold Palmer Regional Airport (LBE/KLBE) is the main airport for Westmoreland County and located in the state of Pennsylvania. It is named after the professional golfer Arnold Palmer, which was born in Latrobe in 1929. LBE is a secondary airport in the local Tri-State Area, located 2 miles southwest from Latrobe and 33 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Severing as a destination airport to Spirit Airlines, Latrobe recently started offering flights for Casino Runners using Sun Country and Ultimate Air Shuttles ERJ135/140. In addition to commercial traffic, Arnold Palmer Regional Airport is home to Laurel Highlands Aeronautical Academy: one of the biggest flight schools in Pennsylvania with 15 aircraft. Arnold Palmer Regional Airport is a leading business airport in Pennsylvania, Laurel Highlands Jet Center and L J Aviation oversee and run all business charter operations at LBE. As of 2025, Latrobe Airport is undergoing renovations to double the number of gates and attempt to attract new airlines; this 17 Million dollar project is currently underway.

Arnold Palmer Regional Airport also hosts the yearly “Westmoreland airshow” and is also home to the Latrobe air museum which is opened from 10am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Ladder	Not needed for any spot.
Car/Public Transport	Like always in the US normallay: a car is recommended.
Drinks/Food	Nothing at the spots directly, but some restaurants are 3-5 min drive away.
Hotels	The SpringHill Suites Latrobe is the nearest hotel and rooms should offer a good sight on the 24 approach.
Season	There is no real season with highly more/less traffic.
Security	Low chance of being approached by park police. However, as always in the US, carry an ID with you and keep a low profile.

06/24	Used in both directions, depending on the wind only. No preferred direction.

	Spot #1 – Airport Rd – 06 Movements
WHERE	Make your way to the southwest of the airfield to Airport Rd. Right before the 3 way intercetion with Earhart Rd and Haines Rd, there is a pull off right by the fence at the crash gate.
WHAT	Runway 06 arrivals and deaprtures, also good for aircraft taxiing on A to and from runway 06
TIME	From later noon till sunset.
MISC.	Food and drinks are not avalible at this location, neither is a restroom. Sunoco or Get-go is a 5 minuite drive, where you will find food and restrooms. You may be approached by park police: remain calm and tell them that you are spotting planes. You either have to shoot thru the mesh or with a ladder over the fence. Howeber, like most spots in the US a ladder is not recomended, but shouldn’t be a problem anyways.

	Spot #2 – Pleasent Unity Rd – 05 Arrivals + 24 Departures
WHERE	Drive down Pleasent Unity Rd, uppon reaching the intersection with Henrys Rd, make a right into the Gravel patch. You can park here and position yourself directly at the fence or a few steps back here on the elevated area.
WHAT	Runway 5 Arrivals and Runway 24 Departures
TIME	From Sunrise to noon.
MISC.	Food and drinks are not avalible at this location, neither is a restroom. Sunoco or Get-go is a 5 minuite drive, where you will find food and restrooms. You will have no issues with police here. You are a bit elevated, the view towards the west/runway end is clear.

	Spot #3 – Vee Neal Aviation – Ramp
WHERE	This spot is no exact position rather the area along the fence in front of the ramp here: the Hertz parking, Vee Neal Aviation and Laurel Highlands hangar. You may be able to spot onto the ramp from the fence in between/next to these facilities or if you ask friendly you may also access the hangar and spot in/from there.
WHAT	This spot only allows views onto the ramp in front.
TIME	From Sunrise to noon.
MISC.	Food, Drinks and restrooms are avalible at this location. Inside of the Vee Neal/Laurel Highlands hanger, there is a public restroom and vending machines filled with drinks and snacks. You will have zero issues with police.

	Spot #4 – DiNunzio’s balcony – Apron + 06/24 Movements
WHERE	Park your car in the free parking in front of the terminal. Then walk thru the terminals main doors, keep to the left to the staircase going up to the DiNunzio restaurant with a balcony offering nice ramp and runway views.
WHAT	All ground activity plus the entire runway 06/24 is visible.
TIME	From sunrise noon.
MISC.	You can always get food and drinks at the resturant, they also have a restroom.
FOCAL LENGTH	Should be 50-500mm

	Spot #5 – Traffic Light – 24 Arrivals
WHERE	This spot is located at the traffic light of the junction between Arnold Palmer Dr and Highway 981. Simply get rid of your car in the nearby Unity Plaza parking or at the hotel and position yourself along the fence here.
WHAT	From here you can see aircraft arriving onto runway 24 plus you may be able to also see the line-ups, just walk along the fence till you have a clear view. Plus the Latrobe air museum is also nearby.
TIME	Sunrise to noon for arrivals; line-ups only in the morning hours.
MISC.	Some facilities in the nearby plaza or hotel, otherwise you can get drinks and food at Sunoco Or Getgo and use the restrooms there, it is a 3 minute drive. Keep a low profile here to avoid attention.
