Montreal Metropolitan Saint-Hubert Airport – Spotting Guide
October 4, 2026London Oxford Airport – Spotting Guide
London Oxford Airport (OXF/EGTK) is a small airfield located 10km north of Oxford city. The airfield was opened in the 1930s by the city of Oxford, became RAF Kidlington during WW2 until it was transformed to private usage in 1951 again while private usage already took place from the mid 1940s. Afterwards, the airfield focussed on pilot schooling and training from the 1960s on.
Today, it is home to several flying schools, for example CAE Oxford. More interestingly for spotters, there are also dozens of cooperate/general aviation movements in and out of London Oxford Airport each day.
However, spotting at OXF works more like a hit and go with no regular flights and traffic. In addition, spotters are not welcome at some aprons and parts of the airfield. Be aware of that!

| Airport Information | |
| Runways | |
| 01/19 | 1553 x 30m – Asphalt |
| 03/21 | 900m – Gras |
| 11/29 | 700m – Asphalt |
| Terminals | There is no real terminal, nor one single GAT rather various FBOs handling the business jets. |
| Spotting Information | |
| Ladder | Helpful, but you can work through the mesh at most spots as well. |
| Car/Public Transport | A car is helpful, but out of Oxford city, the airport can be reached by bus and the spots by foot or scooter then easily. |
| Drinks/Food | Some few spots in the southeast, nothing special. |
| Hotels | No specific spotter hotels can be found around OXF. |
| Season | There is no real season at OXF as there are no scheudled flights, but summer seems to attract more VIPs and thus aircraft. In addition, during the formula 1 weekend held in Silverstone (mostly mid of July), there is additional traffic in OXF. |
| Security | Spotting is tolerated at OXF at most points, however there are several ramps and FBOs which do not like us. For example Airbus helicopters UK and the ramp north of the main airport facilities are either fenced off twice or the fence has several “no photography” signs attached to it. |
| Runway Usage | |
| General Info | 01/19 is used in both directions depending on the winds. |
| Spot #1 – The Straight Mile – 19 Arrivals | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot can be found north of the airfield along The straight mile which leads east/west along the airport’s northern border and bushes. You can stop your car at several entries to the fields and take pictures from right there. You can also move around with the sun. |
| WHAT | Arrivals on runway 19. |
| TIME | All day actually as you can move with the sun. |
| MISC. | Nothing needed, sometimes police/security does not like us parking/stopping there. So stay close to your car to make way once experiencing issues. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 50-250 covers everything |
We cannot provide any examples taken here yet, but they look like THIS.

| Spot #2 – Flightschool Garden – Ramp | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | Making your way to the airport, you will end up on the halfcircle running along the facilities. Head for the Oxford airport/ATC tower and park your car close to the flight schools. Then, pass the small barrier for cars by foot and head to the flight school garden with some wodden benches by passing the ATC building from the north. |
| WHAT | From the garden you have a nice view onto the ramp infront. |
| TIME | Depending on the angle, but mostly morning and early noon hours. |
| MISC. | Do not use a ladder here to avoid issues, but shoot through the mesh. Be aware to stow your camera once passengers are boarding/disembarking to avoid problems as well. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 24-100mm Global 6000 close-up = 70mm |
| Spot #3 – Langford Ln – Ramp + Taxiway | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | Down south of all facilities, you will find Langford Lane from where you can see onto the ramp and taxiway in front. Try to park your car nearby as stopping here is tricky and then come back by foot. There are some crash gates along the way which offer small open windows around the handles – enough place to fit a lens through. |
| WHAT | The taxiway in front plus parts of the ramp in the back. |
| TIME | From early noon till mid-afternoon works quite well generally. |
| MISC. | A ladder may be helpful, but we would not recommend that to avoid issues as you are just by the side of the FBO hangars. The road is a bit elevated at some points, otherwise try to work through the mesh. Haze on the ramp can be an issue. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 50-300mm covers most things |
We cannot provide any examples taken here yet, but they look like THIS.

| Spot #4 – Woodstock Rd – 01 Movements + 19 Arrivals | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | Take Woodstock Rd/A44 northwards, turn off into Wolsey Ct which serves the handful of houses west of the airport. You can get rid of your car here and then walk back to the fence in the south. Along the fence and at the marked crash gate, you can get some nice views. |
| WHAT | 01 Movements are nicely visible here as well as 19 Arrivals as there is only one taxiway to leave the runway. |
| TIME | Later noon till sunset. |
| MISC. | A ladder can be helpful here, but you can also work through the mesh. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | 50-250mm Challenger = 105mm |
