On September 27th and 28th, 2025, the Malta International Airshow once again opened its doors, turning the skies over St. Paul’s Bay and the grounds of Malta International Airport into a paradise for aviation fans. Organized by the Malta Aviation Society, the event attracted numerous visitors from all over the world, thrilling them with a spectacular mix of historic warbirds, modern military jets, transport aircraft, helicopters, and aerobatic teams.
International Exhibitors and Highlights
The list of participating nations and their showcased aircraft was especially diverse in 2025:
- Italy impressed with a Panavia Tornado A-200 in a special "50 Years of Tornado" anniversary livery, along with several Leonardo models such as the MH-169M, P-72B (maritime patrol), UH-139C, and the NH Industries SH-90A (anti-submarine).
- Austria sent a Lockheed C-130K Hercules for static display.
- Lithuania participated with the lightweight Let L-410 Turbolet transport aircraft, making its Malta debut.
- USA: A true highlight was the rarely seen Boeing TC-135W Stratolifter, as well as a Gates C-21A.
- United Kingdom sent the world-renowned Royal Air Force Red Arrows – their perfectly choreographed formations and smoke trails were a magnet for visitors.
- Germany presented both a Eurofighter EF2000 and the modern Airbus A400M Atlas – featured in both static and flying displays.
- Spain made a long-anticipated return after over 15 years with the Spanish Navy’s AV-8B+ Harrier.
- France: The French Navy contributed a Falcon 10 MER to the flying displays.
- Irish Air Corps showcased the striking Pilatus PC-12NG “Spectre” in a special livery for their 100th anniversary.
- Armed Forces of Malta took the opportunity to impress the local crowd with their fleet and capabilities.
In addition, several civilian aircraft could be admired in static display, including the Aquila A211GX or a Cessna “T-41 Mescalero”.
Flying and Ground Program
It wasn’t only the diverse flying program – with jet power, formation flying, and solo displays – that drew crowds. The static exhibitions at Safi Aviation Park and the easyJet Engineering Malta apron offered photographers and aviation enthusiasts plenty to see and discuss.
The Malta International Airshow 2025 was, once again, a great success – internationally diverse, featuring the rarest aircraft from around the globe. For aviation enthusiasts, this weekend will remain an unforgettable experience.
