The spotterguide.net team visited the Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 back in July. It is the world largest military Airshow held every year in the third week of July at RAF Fairford. With about 200.000 spectators over the weekend it can get quite crowded. With aircraft from nearly 40 different military units, there was a good mix of different planes and helicopters in flying and static display.
As country of hosting, the United Kingdom Forces were of course the largest exhibitor of the show with several aircraft types. With the highlighted 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force the Canadian forces sent a large range of aircraft including the F-18 demo team and one helicopter (transported to the show by their CC-177). Another theme was the 50th anniversary of the F-16, with a big line up row of F-16s in static display and two different flying displays. This included even F-16s from Jordan and Morocco. Furthermore, the ‘Pushing the Boundaries in air and space‘ theme and the ‘75 years NATO‘ anniversary completed the show with matching planes in the air and static display.
One of the highlights you could definitely count was the company Boeing with a F-15QA demonstration in 2 different configurations each show day. In total four Phantoms from Turkiye and Greece, plus the Spanish Harrier and the Qatar Amiri Air Force NH-90 NFH were present as well.
Display Teams were present from the the RAF Red Arrows, Patrouillie Suisse, Yellow Sparrows and the Royal Jordanian Falcons.
