April 27, 2026Henderson Executive Airport – Spotting Guide
- last modified on April 20, 2026
Henderson Executive Airport (HSH / KHND) was established in 1967 and opened 3 years later. It solely serves business and general aviation traffic. While its big brother Harry Reid International Airport a few miles north also sees a lot of business jets, Henderson has over 200 operations on average per day. Business jets ferrying from/to KLAS are a common sight. During the annual NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas affiliated aircraft are typically displayed at HSH.

| Spotting Information | |
| Ladder | Not needed and not recommended. |
| Car/Public Transport | Best to have a (rental) car, but the airport can also be reached by bus. Bus #122 connects the Henderson Airport area (several bus stops) with the South Strip Transit Terminal in Las Vegas (at the southwest corner of Las Vegas Airport), for schedule and fares check the website of the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC). |
| Drinks/Food | There are a few restaurants in the shopping plaza near spot #3 at the northern end of the airport, and there are a few fast food places as well as a gas station (spot #1) at the southern end of the airport. |
| Hotels | None right by the airport, but a few along the bus route. |
| Season | All year, but best from October through April to avoid the heat. |
| Security | We did not encounter any issues during our visit, but as always carry ID and be cooperative when being approached by police. |
| Runway Usage | |
| General Info | |
| 17R/35L | Main runway used by all traffic. |
| 17L/35R | Rarely used, mainly by props. |
| Spot #1 – Coffee Shop / Gas Station Volunteer Blvd – 35L Arrivals | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This spot is located in the parking lot between the coffee shop and the gas station on Volunteer Blvd. Mind the traffic using the drive-thru! If arriving by bus (#122), then get off at stop #7315 Raiders Way-Dale Ave. |
| WHAT | 35L arrivals. 35L line-up is also possible, but requires a truck bed to clear the top of the airport fence. |
| TIME | Arrivals from early afternoon until sunset. Line-ups from noon. |
| MISC. | Food, drinks and restrooms are available at the gas station. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | G650: 110mm PC-12: 400mm |
| Spot #2 – Executive Terminal Drive & Raiders Way – Ramp Traffic / Parked Aircraft | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | This is a “Grab what you can and go” spotting location – if arriving by car, leave it in the parking lot across from the terminal building, and take the photos you want while walking along the fence (yellow lines in map). If arriving by bus (#122), then get off at stop 6922 Raiders Way-Sunridge Heights Pkwy, the western end of the ramp is across the street. |
| WHAT | Aircraft taxiing and parked on ramp. |
| TIME | Technically all day, but mainly from afternoon until sunset. |
| MISC. | A lens with a smaller front diameter is required to be able to shoot through the fence. Although we did not encounter any issues during our stay, we do not recommend to hang around along the fence for too long. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | Various from wide angle to around 300mm. |
| Spot #3 – Sunridge Hts Pkwy – 17R Arrivals | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | If arriving by car, then leave the vehicle in the parking lot of the adjacent shopping plaza and walk up to Sunridge Hts Pkwy. If arriving by bus (#122), then get off at stop #6920 St. Rose Pkwy-Amigo St and walk across the shopping plaza up to Sunridge Hts Pkwy. Pick a spot along the road to your liking, but keep distance to the fence as well as to the road. |
| WHAT | 17R arrivals only. |
| TIME | From early afternoon until sunset. |
| MISC. | Food, drinks and restrooms are available at the various restaurants of the adjacent strip mall. No shade. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | TBD |

| Spot #4 – Volunteer Blvd – 35L/R arrivals | |
|---|---|
| WHERE | At this location, there is no roadside parking available. From spot #1, follow the foot- and bike path along Volunteer Blvd through the runway approach zone towards the residential area on the other side for about 0.3 miles / 0.5 km and pick a spot just off the pathway to avoid interfering with cyclists. |
| WHAT | 35L/R arrivals. Just move along the path for the approach on 35L/R. |
| TIME | From sunrise until late morning. |
| MISC. | Food, drinks and restrooms are available at the gas station by spot 1#. No shade. |
| FOCAL LENGTH | TBD |
No sample photos available yet
